Consolidation of Fine Aluminum Scrap For Increased Remelting Efficiency
Remelting of fine aluminum scrap has long been an inefficient process. Scrap's high surface-area-to-volume ratio causes oxide formation, resulting in less recovered aluminum and increased energy required to melt it. EMV Technologies is developing a continuous extrusion process that consolidates scrap into rod or bar form to dramatically increase its remelt efficiency.
